The WeatherPhilippines Foundation, Inc. (WPF) was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as a non-stock, non-profit corporation on February 10, 2012 by the Aboitiz Group to complement the Government’s nationwide efforts on disaster risk reduction to create a weather nation. It intends to make a positive contribution to the Philippine society and economy by operating a premier weather forecasting system that will provide free weather information as a warning system and a public service for Filipinos. It is a corporate foundation. Its main office is located at 17-NAC Tower 32nd St., Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City. The foundation has eleven (11) full time staff, two (2) project-based staff and seven (7) members of the Board of Trustees.
Its purposes (V-M-G), among others, are “to become the trusted and most reliable private weather information organization in the Philippines; to positively contribute to the Philippine society and economy by operating a premiere weather forecasting system that will provide free and localized weather information to the Filipinos that will contribute to Disaster Risks Mitigation and Management.” The Foundation’s programs/projects focused on the following: 1) weather education; 2) trainings on weather and tropical cyclone 101 and 3) providing timely weather information through its website, Mobile Application and social media.
It was certified for one (1) year on December 17, 2012 which ended on November 23, 2013. For its renewal, the Foundation was certified for three years on May 7, 2014 which ended in January 15, 2017.
Its sources of revenues mainly come from the Aboitiz Group and later expanded its donors to other 31 companies in the Philippines.
