The University of Santo Tomas Research and Endowment Foundation, Inc. was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as a non-stock, non-profit corporation on December 27, 1991 by a group of incorporators who work toward the cultivation of mutually beneficial ties with educational and funding institutions to enhance the institutional capabilities, faculty development, scholarship, research, and community development projects of the University of Sto. Tomas. It is a grantmaking foundation which aims to provide financial support to the University of Santo Tomas’ major programs. Its main office is located at Ground Floor, Main Building, University of Sto. Tomas Campus, Espana Blvd., Sampaloc, Manila. The Foundation has 5 regular seconded staff from UST and 9 members of the Board of Trustees.
Its purposes, among others, are “to aid the University of Santo Tomas to maintain the university’s centuries-old tradition of excellence as a premier Catholic institution of learning in Asia, committed to the professional and moral formation of its stakeholders for social transformation; and to be a partner of the University of Santo Tomas, in pursuit of truth, guided by reason and illumined by faith dedicates itself to support the generation, advancement, and transmission of knowledge and social involvement to form competent and compassionate professionals, committed to the service of the Church, the nation, and the global community.” The Foundation’s programs/projects include grants for the following: 1) Scholarships; 2) Community Development; 3) Professorial Chairs; 5) research; 6) travel; and 7) thesis and dissertation.
