The University of the Philippines at Los Baños (UPLB) is known here and abroad as a rich source of ideas, innovations, and technologies in support of agriculture, rural development and ecological balance.
To assist the UPLB in expanding and optimally utilizing its human, financial, and material resources toward accelerated and sustainable economic development, the University of the Philippines Los Baños Foundation, Inc. (UPLBFI) was established
The UPLBFI is a privately-operated, non-profit, non-stock corporation duly registered with the SEC on September 13, 1977. It was formerly known as the Generator of Integrated Resources Development (GIRD) Foundation, Inc. Its main office is located at UPLBFI Bldg., Lanzones Street, UPLB College Los Baños Laguna. The foundation has 25 regular staff, 224 project- based staff, and 10 members of the Board of Trustees.
It was granted a 3-year certification for donee institution status by PCNC on August 22, 2007 and which ended on August 21, 2010. On its first renewal, it was granted 5 year certification on December 23, 2014 which will end on December 22, 2019.
It envisions itself to be a strong and viable partner organization of the University of the Philippines Los Baños in the promotion and application of agricultural, engineering, and environmental sciences and biotechnology towards sustainable development of the country and the ASEAN region. Its purposes (V-M-G), among others, are “to promote science and technology development programs; provide high quality technical assistance; to enhance capacity of UPLB experts and partners in the conduct of science to address development concerns; popularize scientific knowledge; develop a culture of innovation in UPLB towards enterprise development. Geographical scope of programs: National and international.
