The University of the Philippines Foundation, Inc. (UPFI) was registered with the SEC as a non-stock, non-profit organization on June 7, 1978. It is an operating organization. Its main office is located at Rm. 102 Fonacier Hall (Alumni Center), UP Diliman, Quezon City. UPFI has a total of 3 regular staff, 3 part-time staff and 15 members of the Board of Trustees.
Its purposes, among others, are “to manage financial resources for professorial chairs, faculty and student scholarships, research grants and other development programs that would promote dynamic research and learning activities in the University.” The Foundation’s programs now focus on the following:
Provision of grants to student scholars, professorial chair awards, faculty grant awards and research projects to the entire UP system.
It was granted a 5-year Certification on September 3, 2002 which ended on September 3, 2007. On its first renewal, it was granted another 5-year Certification on September 1, 2008 which ended on August 31, 2013. On its 2nd renewal it was certified for 3- year certification on June 27, 2014 which will end on February 11, 2017.
