The Rise Against Hunger Philippines, Inc. (formerly Stop Hunger Now Philippines) is a non-profit, non-stock foundation registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on January 26, 2015. Its office is located at Unit 28, Penthouse Creekside Mall, Amorsolo St., Barangay Pio del Pilar, Makati City. Rise Against Hunger Philippines is the local affiliate organization of Rise Against Hunger, an international hunger relief organization established in the United States of America in 1998 by Dr. Ray Buchanan that has been fulfilling its commitment to end hunger for more than 15 years.
In November 2013, Typhoon Yolanda struck the Philippines, Stop Hunger Now affiliates across the world were mobilized to provide immediate aid. Over 57 million pesos worth of aid was sent to the Philippines including meals, medical supplies, and donations to fund-in country meal packaging. Over 2.3 million meals were sent to crisis areas and 27 million pesos in product donations were delivered.
In August 2014, Stop Hunger Now hired Jose Mariano “Jomar” Fleras, as the Executive Director of Stop Hunger Now Philippines, and in December 2014, Philippine Operation: Stop Hunger Now, Inc. became an official affiliate of Stop Hunger Now. By the end of 2014, more than 800,000 were packed by local volunteers distributed throughout the Philippines.
In 2017, Stop Hunger Now changed its global brand to Rise Against Hunger (RAHP) and is driven by the vision of a world without hunger. Its mission is to end hunger in our lifetime by providing food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable and by creating a global commitment to mobilize to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals of ending hunger by 2030.
