RC Manila Foundation, Inc. was established on December 6, 1978 and was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as a non-stock, non-profit organization on February 1, 1979. It is an offshoot of the Philippines’ and Asia’s first Rotary Club, the Rotary Club of Manila, that was established in 1912. Its primary objective is to serve as its mother Club’s fund-raising arm.
As the Rotary Club envisions itself to be at the forefront of implementing and accomplishing its programs and advocacies mandated by its charter, it believes that a separate arm specifically intended to raise funds will be beneficial and will enhance its goals and objectives. The ideal arrangement between the mother Club and the Foundation, however, did not live up to its expectations. Both the Rotary Club and the Foundation implement their own set of programs that ironically target the same group of donors – the Rotarians of Rotary Club of Manila. Effectively, the Rotary Club gets the edge of getting the bigger volume of donation while the Foundation has kept its fund fixed all through the years. Thus, this has made the accomplishment of the Foundation limited during its years of existence, let alone, the past three years that it has been accredited by the PCNC. To address this concern, the PCNC evaluation team recommended during the online evaluation last Feb 9, 2022 to consider transferring all fund-raising functions of the mother club, the Rotary Club of Manila, to the Foundation, to streamline the operations of both organizations (RCM and RCMFI), eliminate donation competition, and improve program implementation. The Chairman and the two Board of Trustees of RCMFI have agreed to talk this out with the Board of RCM & RCMFI.
