The National Music Competitions for Young Artists was established in 1973 by Presidential Proclamation 1173 with the mandate of discovering young Filipino talents in various fields of music through nationwide competitions. On February 8, 1988 it was registered with the SEC as Music Competition for Young Artists, Inc. as a non- stock, non-profit organization. For more than four decades, it has identified and nurtured the musical genius of the country’s youth producing a wealth of accomplished musicians who have won and gained considerable experience from their NAMCYA participation and are now recognized as consummate artists in the local and international musical scene. In 2001, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo signed Proclamation No. 80 which affirms NAMCYA’s mission for the nation’s young artists and further designates the National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCCA) as the primary supporting agency of this endeavor. On May 28, 2010, Music Competition for Young Artists, Inc. was renamed/registered with the SEC as National Music Competitions for Young Artists Foundation, Inc. still as a non-stock, non-profit organization
