Megaworld Foundation, Inc. was registered with the SEC as a non-stock, non-profit corporation on September 18, 1997. It was formed to become the socio-civic arm of Megaworld Corporation and with the aim of creating programs & activities that address the needs of the youth through scholarship & those of other sectors of society through partnership-building. Its main office is located at 30th Floor, Alliance Global Tower, 36th St. corner 11th Ave., Taguig City. The foundation currently has 6 full-time seconded staff & 1 part-time staff. There are six (6) members of the Board of Trustees including 1 independent trustee.
It envisions to be a leading foundation that promotes corporate social responsibility through education, social development programs and cultural preservation in the aim to create positive impact to its stakeholders and the society at large. Among its purposes are “ to alleviate poverty through education and empower the youth by banking on their capabilities and grooming them to become the next generation leaders; to engage in strategic partnerships that would spark a fruitful endeavor to reach out and uplift the lives of the underprivileged sectors of the society; cultivate the passion of service by organizing and supporting CSR activities that would create a culture of bayanihan; and to promote and preserve the rich cultural heritage of Filipino people”. The Foundation’s programs now focus on the following areas: a) scholarship and educational support; b) institutional partnership and 3) volunteerism program.
It was certified for 3 years on November 28, 2007 and which ended on November 27, 2010. On its first renewal, it was certified for another 3 years on October 28, 2015 which ended on October 27, 2018.
