The Kasilak Development Foundation, Inc. (KDFI) was organized on March 3, 1997 and was subsequently registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on June 2, 1997. KDFI is a non-stock, non-profit social development organization. Its primary purpose is to uplift the socio-economic condition of the communities living in a peaceful and ecologically balanced environment. The Foundation continuously link and partner with different development institutions, donor agencies and various resource providers-private and public, to leverage resources and complement development initiatives and undertakings in various areas in Mindanao. Its main office is located at Apartment H, Calla Lily Apartments, Indigo-Bunting St., Belisario Heights Subdivision, Lanang, Davao City.
Its purposes, among others, are “to promote integrated-approach to natural resource management and sustainable community development envision for ‘people living in prosperity and ecologically balanced environment’; and to improve the living condition of assisted communities by actively promoting partnership in implementing community empowerment, livelihood, environmental programs and facilitate access to basic social services through quality service, teamwork and transparency”. The Foundation’s programs focused on the following areas: (1) Natural Resource and Watershed Management (environmental protection, conservation and rehabilitation of watershed areas and promotion of sustainable farming management services); (2) Community Livelihood Support and Enterprise Development (livelihood assistance and income augmentation through promotion of appropriate technologies and support for community enterprise initiatives); (3) Support Basic Social Services (health, education and water sanitation and hygiene); and (4) Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA). Geographical scope of areas: Mindanao.
