The Gawad Metronian Educational Foundation, Inc. (GMEFI) was registered with the SEC as a non-stock, non-profit corporation on December 16, 2014 by the Miranda siblings in honor of their late parents, Dr. Mamerto Serrano Miranda and Dr. Ligaya Medina Miranda who were the Founders of Novaliches Academy now known as Metro Manila College. It aims to maximize whatever assistance the Miranda Family could offer for the welfare and benefit of the students, the community and the marginalized sectors of society. It is a family & operating organization. Its main office is located at Metro Manila College (MMC) Campus, Brgy. Kaligayahan, Novaliches, Quezon City. The foundation has 1 regular staff, 1 part-time staff, 2 volunteers and 9 members of the Board of Trustees.
Gawad Metronian Educational Foundation, Inc. (GMEFI) is committed to provide reliable and effective scholarships and educational assistance programs for poor and deserving students through responsible resource generation and mutually-beneficial partnerships with like-minded individuals and organization”. The Foundation’s programs/projects now focus on the following areas: 1) Scholarship and Educational Assistance Program – This provides financial assistance towards completion of high school education, technical-vocational or tertiary education of poor but deserving students; and 2) Community Educational Program Fund Assistance.
The Foundation was first certified by PCNC last April 14, 2016 which ended on April 21, 2017.
