The Child Health in Life and Development Foundation, Inc. (C.H.I.L.D.) was registered with SEC as a non-stock, non-profit corporation on January 30, 1992 by a group of dynamic and committed pediatricians to assist the Pediatrics Department of UP-PGH in being more responsive to the health needs and aspirations of the Filipino children, particularly the indigent patients who cannot afford the medical treatment that they need. It is a hospital-based organization. Its main office is located at the UP-PGH, Department of Pediatrics, Taft Avenue, Manila. The Foundation has one regular staff, one seconded staff from PGH and one part-time staff.
Its purposes, among others are to “assist the Department of Pediatric of UP-PGH in being more responsive to the health needs and aspirations of the Filipino children, especially the indigent patients”. The Foundation’s programs focus on the following areas: provision of medicines, medical procedures and the provision of healthcare equipment (such as mechanical ventilators and the like), plus providing other services such as the School for Sick Children and the Healing Place. It also aims to develop the expertise of the younger doctors through trainings and seminars.
