The AY Foundation, Inc. (AYF) traces its roots to the Bayanihan Foundation set up in 1970 by Ambassador Alfonso T. Yuchengco to administer an educational fund for the children of Grepalife employees and sales associates. But the foundation’s scholarship program later expanded to include street children and members of indigenous groups. In 1988, the foundation was renamed AY Foundation, Inc., It is a funding/grant-making corporate foundation with a nationwide geographic coverage.
Its purposes, among others, are “to contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of the Filipino especially the poor and the disadvantaged particularly in the formation of moral values and in the education of our youth, with emphasis on the field of science and technology, to provide educational assistance to financially needy but deserving Filipino youth”. Their program areas are on: education and training, health and nutrition, environment, youth and family welfare, community development and disaster and relief. In terms of target clientele, they support the disabled, indigenous people, youth, children and victims of calamity.
