In 2007, BINHI founder Ma. Luisa Tinio Bayot was introduced to the Pratham India teaching framework that was the brainchild of Dr. Madhav Chavan. Pratham is the largest non-government organization working to provide quality education to the underprivileged children of India.
In 2008, Ms. Lisa Bayot and her friends, bonded by a common vision to improve the future of Filipino children through education, conceptualized and developed the reading materials to suit the needs of children. In 2009, Binhi English Literacy Foundation, Inc. was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission. As BINHI means “seed” in Filipino, the foundation dubs its team as agrarians of empowerment through education.
BINHI provides English learning support to children with reading problems using English learning kits inspired by proven teaching methodologies. BINHI recruits and trains DepEd teachers and community volunteers on how to use the kits, improve teaching skills as well as provide monitoring and post-program support.
