The Pondong Batangan Community Foundation Inc. (PBCFI), a church-based organization, was registered with the SEC on December 8, 1999 as a non-stock, non-profit organization. It is a grant-making/funding organization. PBCFI was launched as an integral evangelization program of the Archdiocese to “operationalize the Love of Christ” promoted as a way of practicing Christian Charity through small giving. As a movement and as a community foundation, it calls on all Batangueños “to care for others so as to attain fullness of life in God.” Thus, the funds raised are directed to people and community development.
The organization is governed by its 15 members of the Board who are priests and laymen from the 55 parishes of Batangas province. The BOT is supported by a management staff headed by an Executive Director (who works on a voluntary basis), and four (4) full time staff. Project implementation on the other hand is carried out through the different parishes and partner organizations in the province. Its main office is located at #74 General Luna St., Sabang, Lipa City.
It was certified for three (3) years on December 5, 2008 that ended on December 4, 2011. It was again certified for another 3 years on May 10, 2013 which ended on March 5, 2016.
As a community foundation, its main source of funds comes from the community’s little contributions known as “Tibyo”. Churchgoers, starting in early 90’s (through the initiative of then Archbishop Rosales) were encouraged to put their coins in empty cans and donate these to the church during masses. These in turn are remitted by the parishes to the Pondong Batangan Central Office. Projects being funded include scholarship grants, health, livelihood, and vocational trainings.
