In the pursuit of their Visions and Mission directed at improving the lives of the disadvantaged, NGOs/Foundations use resources entrusted to them by donors, grant-making institutions and contributors.  By allowing the NGOs/Foundations to contribute to the improvements in their lives, the end-beneficiaries, in a way, have also entrusted a part of them to these organizations that work with them.

2013 was a very challenging year for the NGO community in the country.  The exposes about the channeling of government funds through “bogus” NGOs tarnished the image of the NGO community in the eyes of the general public.  This led to a stricter monitoring and implementation of rules and regulations by government agencies, especially the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) in the governance of non-stock, non-profit corporations or NGOs and Foundations.







PCNC 15TH ANNUAL ASSEMBLY

PCNC held its 15th Annual Assembly Meeting on 27 May 2014 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Quezon City.  The event was considered the largest gathering of PCNC certified organizations, in particular, and non-stock, non-profit organizations or NGOs and Foundations, in general. A total of 340 participants representing 238 PCNC certified organizations attended the Meeting.

In accordance with the principles of good governance which are seriously considered in PCNCs evaluation of NGOs/Foundations, the PCNC Board has put out the following guidelines:







Summary Progress Report Improving the Efficiency and Effectiveness of NGOs

From June to August this year, PCNC held the first three NGO clinics that brought coaches and mentors with their ‘clients’ discussing specific ways to improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness.

 

PCNC gathered first the coaches to review the revised standards and self-assessment instruments that will be introduced in January 2012. They also revisited basic concepts, principles and processes of coaching/mentoring.
